Support for an Annexation Vote

On Wednesday, August 30, 2019, Mayor Sandy Stimpson proposed to the Mobile City Council for a special ballot to move forward, allowing the citizens of the Schillinger Corridor, Airport/Snow Corridor, and the Kings Branch corridor, to vote on annexation into the City of Mobile. Stimpson indicated, if the citizens supported the annex into city limits, it puts Mobile, AL, as the second-largest city in Alabama. With a City population of over 200,000, Mobile becomes eligible for larger Public Safety grants from the Federal Government. Annexing these areas also helps Mobile promote the Port of Mobile as a major hub for business, increases the Port in Southeast trade, and assists in the City’s ongoing economic development efforts.

The Mobile Area Association of REALTORS® supports Mayor Stimpson’s proposal allowing the citizens of these three areas to vote on annexation into the City of Mobile.
