Checking in with Community Relations

We are halfway through 2021 and what a year it has been! After being cooped up all through 2020, MAAR’s Community Relations Committee has been taking taking this year by storm. Let’s see what they’ve done so far:

For Valentine’s day, our volunteers made handmade cards and put together packaged goodies for the local Veteran’s home and Senior Homes. We gave a little bit of love, since we still weren’t quite allowed to come in.

In March, we helped Habitat for Humanity frame a new home for a family in need. We had over 30 volunteers show up for the REALTORS® and do something great for the community.

United Way hosted a “Day of Caring”, where a handful of our volunteers were assigned to help out at the local Salvation Army.

We were still not able to physically volunteer for Camp Rapahope but we cooked dinner for the campers twice (since this year they split up the camp into 2 sessions). We miss seeing their smiling faces but received a beautiful thank you card with pictures of the campers.

We hosted a school supply drive for Light of the Village that was picked up this week. The committee met and discussed the projects left for the year, and had City of Mobile’s Chief Resilience Officer, Casi Calloway speak on behalf of a new project that I’m sure you will be hearing more about in the very near future; Litter-Free Mobile.

Camp Smile also allowed us to provide dinner for them but since it was so close to the school supply drive, the Committee thought it best to purchase and donate the dinner for Camp Smile since we wouldn’t be allowed to serve the campers again this year.

We know how busy this year has been for REALTORS® like you, and that makes us appreciate our volunteers more than ever. Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish everything that we have done in such short time but stay tuned, because I promise there’s more to come. If you’re interested in joining our Community Relations Committee or have a charity or cause you are passionate about, please email anniee@gcmls.com for more information. We’d love to help!
