Mobile Area Association of REALTORS®

Keeping your mental health in check as a REALTOR®

As a REALTOR®, your job is to help people find their dream home or sell their current property. While this can be a rewarding career, it can also be a stressful one. Meeting client demands, navigating the complexities of real estate transactions, and working long hours can take a toll on your mental health. That’s why it’s important for REALTORS® to be aware of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental Health Awareness Month is observed every May to raise awareness about mental health and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness. As a REALTOR®, being aware of this month can help you prioritize your mental health and well-being, and support those around you who may be struggling.

Here are some reasons why REALTORS® should be aware of Mental Health Awareness Month:

  1. To reduce the stigma around mental illness. Mental health stigma is a major barrier to seeking help and treatment. By being aware of Mental Health Awareness Month, REALTORS® can help reduce the stigma around mental illness and encourage others to seek help if they need it.
  2. To prioritize your own mental health as a REALTOR®, it’s important to prioritize your own mental health and well-being. This means taking breaks throughout the day, practicing self-care, and seeking support if needed. Being aware of Mental Health Awareness Month can remind you to prioritize your mental health and take steps to reduce stress and prevent burnout.
  3. To support colleagues and client’s real-estate can be a high-stress industry, and your colleagues and clients may be struggling with their own mental health issues. By being aware of Mental Health Awareness Month, you can support your colleagues and clients by providing a listening ear, offering resources, and creating a culture that prioritizes mental health and well-being.
  4. To promote overall workplace well-being. Prioritizing mental health and well-being in the workplace can have a positive impact on everyone. By promoting mental health awareness and creating a supportive workplace culture, REALTORS® can help reduce stress and burnout, increase productivity, and improve overall well-being for everyone in the workplace.

Being aware of Mental Health Awareness Month is important for REALTORS®. By taking steps to prioritize mental health, REALTORS® can create a more positive and productive work environment, and help others do the same. At MAAR, we support you and are here for you.
