The Mobile Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR) and Mobile Mortgage Bankers Association hosted their 17th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, October 5, 2017. Twenty teams and over 25 sponsors came out to Azalea City Golf Course for a gorgeous, breezy day of golf for a great cause. Together, we donated $2,500 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Alabama.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a mentoring network that provides children facing adversity with meaningful, professionally supported one-on-one relationships that have a lifelong positive impact. MAAR President Jeremy Milling chose to highlight this outstanding charity for our 2017 tournament. At the day’s end, Milling was delighted to present a $2,500 check to Casey Hitson of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
We kicked off the day at 11:00 with a putting contest and lunch sponsored by Milling Commercial Realty. It was perfect golf weather: sunshine with a gentle breeze. Our sponsor tents offered delicious grilled fare, snacks, and drinks along the way, which fostered a wonderfully relaxed, sociable atmosphere. Tournament participants enjoyed a variety of competitions in addition to the 18 holes of golf; there were Longest Putt, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Drive competitions.
We closed out an amazing day with our awards ceremony and dinner sponsored by Regions Bank. Congratulations to our 2017 Golf Tournament Champions, David Langham, David Mowdy, Brent Hall, and Barkley Gannon of the Community Bank team! They finished at an impressive 16 under par. Close behind were RE/MAX Partners Mike Gautreaux, Steve Mayhall, and Dick Henry in second place with 15 under par. Martin Andrews, Jason Brown, John Delchamps, and Guy McAleer of the Guarantee Title team finished third at 14 under par.
A huge thank you goes out to the sponsors and players who made this year’s tournament such an enjoyable and successful charitable event! We couldn’t do it without you, and we hope to see you all next year.
