Update Regarding COVID-19  
  • Friday, March 27th Alabama Governor, Kay Ivey issued an update to the State Public Health Order. Effective March 28, 2020, at 5:00 P.M., “non-essential” businesses, venues, and activities shall be closed to non-employees or not take place. (read more)
  • Friday, March 27th the MAAR Board of Directors voted to send a letter to all the Mayors and City Council Representatives in Mobile County along with all three County Commissioners. The letter explains the importance of the real estate industry and requested the real estate industry be included in essential services. This includes; title and record searches and abstracting; the issuance of title insurance; appraisals; permitting; inspections; construction; repair; moving; rental; and the recordation of liens, mortgages, loans; legal; financial; and other services necessary to complete a banking, construction and/or real estate transaction and/or the transfer or conveyance of real property.
  • Tuesday, March 24th, AAR sent a similar letter to Alabama Governor, Kay Ivey.  (read more here)
  • This week, The Senate and The House both passed a $2 trillion COVID-19 economic relief package with overwhelming bipartisan support. “NAR worked with the drafters of this legislation to ensure that independent contractors and those living on a commission-based income will be eligible for the loans as well as the forgiveness provision…” (read more here)
The MAAR Leadership is actively monitoring COVID-19 by staying close to official guidance from the National Association of REALTORS®, the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization.
